The Huge Sacrifice That Aaron and Tiffany Made to Become Debt Free

Many people aspire to live the American dream. The desire to have their own house, cars, and other items to bolster comfort, may be alluring enough that they’re procured through debt.

However, at some point, your desire to acquire things is replaced by the desire of achieving financial freedom. But what if all the extra money that you’re trying to save up is tied up in your house, cars, and various other expenses?

They say, nowadays, that the American dream is the set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success. For many people, debt-freedom is one of the ideals that connects opportunity, prosperity, with success. But if there’s a price to pay for freedom in our country, what price are you willing to pay for financial freedom?

On this episode of The His & Her Money Show, we bring Aaron and Tiffany on to talk to us about their radical solution to paying off their debt, and how their sacrifice opened doors to even bigger possibilities for their lives.

Aaron and Tiffany started off with about $33,000 of consumer’s debt and a $150,000 mortgage. Despite listening to many financial advice podcasts, it was when they heard a sermon about financial freedom—from a biblical standpoint that made Aaron and Tiffany rethink their stance on their financial situation.

You can’t put yourself in that position when you’re beholden to everyone else.

Aaron and Tiffany came up with a budgeting plan and with full intention to sticking to it but along came the opportunity for them to sell their house in order to quickly pay off their debt. To Aaron and Tiffany, it was a choice between home-ownership and debt-freedom… and they chose the latter.

Was it worth selling their house for Aaron and Tiffany to achieve debt-freedom? Throughout their journey, Aaron and Tiffany relieved themselves of tension whenever they talked about money. They now have a level of peace in their marriage that they didn’t realize they were missing. And as Tiffany said: “It’s given us an opportunity that hasn’t been present since we’ve been married.”

Now finally financially independent, Aaron and Tiffany are on their way to achieve greater goals. They can dream bigger, know that there are over-and-above possibilities than before; because they have the freedom to do more of the things that they want to do for their family.
