How Kelly Got Out Of Debt Even While Paying Cash For Her Wedding

Who in America today doesn’t have student loan debt? it’s nothing to be ashamed of and it’s nothing out of the ordinary – but it’s also something you might not want to live with for the next ten years (or more!). Deciding to get rid of your debt and making that first step is a great feeling, but it’s not always a choice you just make on your own when inspiration hits.

Being a slave to the lender can be a drag, and when you get too complacent in that minimum payment cycle, sometimes things can happen in your life to MAKE you realize it’s time to make a big financial change.

It may not be easy, and the timing won’t always feel right, but keep your eye on the prize, and in the end, you’ll be reaping the rewards of financial freedom!

On today’s episode of The His & Her Money Show, our guest knows first-hand how life can throw that debt curveball. Kelly McClogan is here to tell us all about her story, and it’s a good one!

This newlywed was once living paycheck to paycheck under $23,000 of student debt loans, but she got out of debt in just 18 months, and now she and her husband have cash flowed a wedding and are living life debt free together!

Kelly didn’t mind being in debt. She could see herself being debt-free, somewhere down the line, and there was no rush to get her student loans paid off right away. She had other things to think about, like her then-fiance and their upcoming nuptials. At least, that’s what she thought.

Then the untidy state of her finances put a sudden hold on their wedding plans, with a helpful nudge from her future mother-in-law, and suddenly Kelly found herself with no other choice.

She had to buckle down on her debt and get her financial life squared away before she’d be seeing that dream wedding come to life – and she did! Kelly and her husband immediately cracked down as a united front, and this smart money couple budgeted, side hustled, and cash flowed their way to happily ever after!
