How to Turn Your Kids Into Stock Investors

You probably already know it, but here at His & Her Money, legacy building is one of our top hot topics. Whether you’re in the corporate space or running your own business, you have the opportunity to be cooking up some generational wealth, and we can’t stress how important and empowering it is to keep that idea of legacy in the back of your mind. And that means not just setting our children up financially, but mentally too!

On this episode of the His & Her Money Show, we brought in the expert to break it all down for us. Chicago native Rendel Solomon of One Stock, One Future is a huge advocate of legacy building, and today he’s dropping some serious bars on financial management, tackling knowledge, education, and wealth, and how we can all take advantage of our ability to invest personally and financially towards the future!

Growing up, we watch our parents and grandparents manage the household finances, and a lot of the time we take on their ideas of money — the good and the bad. And then by the time we reach adulthood, we’re learning exactly how ineffective these money habits we’ve carried over from our childhoods can really be.

Particularly in our black communities. Rendel has observed the harmful cycles stemming from generations of insufficient financial education. He’s laying out some of the moves we can all be made to fight back racial inequity and systemic racism.

And he’s all about bringing in the kids, too! As we build wealth, invest, and manage our finances, it’s important to have these financial conversations with our kids so we can set them up with the right foundations and start passing down wealth instead of passing it up!

Rendel is an enthusiastic and invaluable source of information that he can’t wait to share on bigger and bigger scales. Right now — that’s right, mid-pandemic — he’s even taking a sabbatical from his six-figure job to work on some projects of his own: a financial education initiative and a stocks book for kids. So, obviously, this man’s hustle never stops, and we hope you’re inspired because we sure are!
